Our day is almost here!

It's been a long wait but we're finally just about ready to move on board our new home. As you may recall, we left St. Augustine in our current boat on 4/17 and sailed to Hilton Head.   

On 4/23 we drove up to Charleston from Hilton Head to meet Jason Iverson who was to install our dodger.  What a beautiful job he did!  We are so pleased with his template and professional installation (not to mention his attention to detail.... like work in years gone by).

The boat was in the Charleston Boatyard which it is where it shipped to from the factory in Marion SC.  The mast was stepped and the bottom painted while the boat was in the yard.

Mid-dodger installation, the boat was launched and brought around to the boatyard dock where dodger installation was finished by evening.  Guess we should have brought sunscreen with us, as it was very sunny and hot! Thank goodness there was a breeze at the dock, unlike in the yard.

 And the dodger began to take shape.  Naturally, Jeff was eager to assist.....

This dodger is so tight is sounds like a drum!

 And the Makrolon windows are incredible!  Look ma, no wrinkles!

By early evening we were on our way back to Hilton Head to return the rental car and prepare for the remainder of our sail to Charleston.

Old & new side by side... we arrived at the Charleston City Marina on Friday the 25th just 20 minutes after the crew had brought our new boat around from the boatyard.

 We tested the davits to see if our dinghy would fit.  Whew!

Now we're just waiting for the final tweaks and then to close on our purchase so that we can begin the final task of moving our belongings aboard and installing our TV, WiFi, grill, etc.  Then we'll be on our way!

What a view this will be as we had north up the ICW or offshore!
