Adventure Bound

Jeff and I have officially moved out of the house and stored everything (way too much of course) we chose to keep for now.  Some things went to kids, some to Craig's List shoppers, some to Goodwill....  Our tenants will move in tomorrow. We hope they like it there as much as we do (did?).

Yesterday morning (4/17) we waved goodbye to our home marina, Comachee Cove in St. Augustine, FL and headed north in our current boat. Yes, the same one we've traveled to the Bahamas in for the past three years. Our good friend Captain Tim was there to toss the dock lines.

After traveling up the ICW (commonly known as the "ditch") to Amelia Island - an 8 hour trip for us, we took a slip in the Amelia Island Yacht Basin for the night and knew we'd be spending today and tonight as well, since the weather isn't quite ideal for sailors.  Rain is great for plants & ducks, but not sailing.  Works out well - since we both had work to catch up on and I wanted to figure out how to get this blog up and running!

Our plan:
We're headed to Charleston, SC to pick up our new 45' Oceanis made by Beneteau.  We actually saw the boat last week when we drove up for our pre-commissioning meeting with the broker.  It should take us about 5 days to reach Charleston by boat.  Once there, we'll continue to live on this boat until the new one is ready and we swap keys, which should be perhaps the first week of May. After that, we are headed north to Maine, where we usually spend a couple of months each summer.  Come September, we'll head back south to warmer temps.

So, when we have actually moved aboard the new boat, I'll post photos of her and give you an idea of how we intend to live for the next several years - and keep you abreast of our whereabouts.
