Summer in Maine 2016

Here it is fall already, and I haven't yet documented our fabulous summer. And so it goes...

Let's go look for some crabs!

Right after we got to Stonington, Jeff had to leave on a couple of business trips so I drove to CT to help move my mom from her condo to a new house near my sister. The new house looks great! I suggested that Jeff fly to CT instead of ME to assist with a few things and make the long drive back with me. What a great idea!

We drove back to Maine on August 19th. The next day our friends Patty and Jack Kuhns flew up to spend a week with us.  Jeff began work on the picnic table he wanted to build to replace the old one. I thought that an octagon shaped table would seat more and look nicer on the deck. Jeff and Jack spent several days designing and building the table. It came out beautifully! Thanks Jack :)

Patty and I relaxed, shopped, strolled downtown Stonington and enjoyed lots of seafood. In such a peaceful setting, it's hard to do much else! One day we went lobstering with our friend Kevin to haul our traps and another day we sailed around Penobscot Bay.

We celebrated Jeff's 60th birthday a little early so that all of our friends could attend. If not for them our summers wouldn't be half as fun. We are so fortunate to have such a great group. It was a potluck celebration and a great get-together.

Beautiful Mainescapes...always make it hard to leave. Next summer we'll do it all over again!

We began our journey south on the 12th of September, exactly two months after our arrival. Just too darn short! As you can see, the Maine post is generally photos and not much gab. Thankfully, a picture is worth a thousand words!
