Oyster Bay to Port Washington

Sept. 15, 2014

Before we left Oyster Bay, we toured around Center Island a little and found Billy Joel's house. (Actually one of his many). Not too shabby, huh?  It was on the market a while back for $32M and I'm not sure if he still owns it.

We took a mooring ball in Port Washington and discovered that this is a great location! Not only are the moorings free, there is a public dock where we can fill up with water and empty our holding tanks, which we took advantage of the morning after our arrival. Another public dock is very close to the grocery store so we stocked up on items we needed.
Jack and Carol arrived yesterday afternoon on their Lagoon catamaran and we enjoyed catching up over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, after which we dinghied into town and had a light dinner together.
Before cocktails, Jeff assisted in hoisting Jack up the mast of their boat to change the VHF antenna. Jeff had the easier of the two jobs thanks to an electric winch...

A visiting classic from Rhode Island

On Wednesday, the 17th we hung out and enjoyed the beautiful weather and explored the bay.
